Why Organic

Organic cotton coming out of the bud

Organic cotton

- Your One Village garment is produced from certified organic cotton.

Organic cotton is the most sustainable way forward for the textiles industry.

Our producers last year harvested 374 tonnes of organic certified cotton. With technical education, farmers have been able to make the conversion to organic and are reaping the benefits. Organic cotton is produced without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilisers. It is also produced without artificial irrigation, being planted during the Indian monsoon, taking advantage of the natural weather cycle to produce a very hardy crop.

A note on our other environmental practices:

Transport

One Village products have been transported to Australia from India via sea cargo. This is the most sustainable way to transport goods long distances emitting far less carbon emissions than transporting by air freight. However, it does take longer and products transported by sea freight are more susceptible to damage whilst in transit.

Biodegradable plastic

Yes, your One Village garment is wrapped in plastic... As mentioned above, goods transported by sea freight are susceptible to damage from the transport conditions. However, whilst your garment is wrapped in plastic, it is no ordinary plastic. The wrapping of your garment is completely biodegradable. Good news for the quality of your garment, and for the environment.
